Stress is also an evolutionary element which arises when we face an issue that we are uncertain how to deal with. Short-term stress is healthy in that it can push us to act and make progress. But long-term chronic stress is unhealthy as our bodies are not designed to tolerate such a continuous state. Symptoms include those that are involved in anxiety and depression, such as loss of appetite, loss of sex drive, and moodiness, and which may end up causing anxiety and/or depression.
Counselling and psychotherapy helps address the triggers causing stress and provide the means to deal with stress.
